Frequently asked questions

Can both parents manage the same family?

Yes. One parent creates the family and sends a private co-parent invitation. Both use separate logins. Sharing a password is unnecessary.

Does my child need an email account?

Invited teen testing currently uses an email account. Simpler guardian-managed pairing for younger children is still being developed.

Will reminders arrive when the app is closed?

Web push is available for device testing on supported installed phones with notification permission. We are still validating end-to-end reminders and approvals across families.

What if my phone is in Sleep Focus?

Sleep Focus may silence alerts. Check Notification Center, then temporarily disable Sleep Focus to test. You can later allow ASK ONCE in your Focus settings.

Can parents and teens create one-time reminders by voice?

Yes. Parents can add a quick reminder for themselves or a child, and connected teens can add personal reminders or positive notes. You can type or use speech-to-text where supported, then choose a time. These reminders are separate from paid chores and parent approvals. Alerts require a connected phone with notification permission.

Are Boost, Sports and Smart Nudges required?

No. The core app is chores, deadlines and reminders. Optional personal reminders can be used without turning on any motivational features. Saved support plans now offer scheduled, reviewed encouragement and homework check-ins. AI-generated wording and more advanced context detection remain planned.

Can ASK ONCE help with homework and school focus?

Yes. Parents can assign homework and school responsibilities with due times and reminders. Invited teens can open an optional 10-, 20- or 30-minute focus timer from an assigned school task, then mark it Done for parent review. The timer does not block apps.

Can a teen have more than one sport or academic goal?

Yes. Open Encouragement & homework on the parent Home screen. Choose a child, select their sports and topics, set a support level and choose days and timing. Save to enable the plan. Teens can pause automatic support.

Does ASK ONCE connect to grades or school accounts?

No. The current beta does not connect to Google Classroom, Canvas or gradebooks. Parents and teens enter only the responsibilities they choose to track.

Can my child send a photo as proof?

Not yet. Private photo proof and parent review are planned for a future beta update.

Does ASK ONCE send money?

No. Rewards are tracked as balances. Parents can record payments they send separately, and children can request payment.

Can ASK ONCE lock YouTube or social media during homework?

Not in the current beta. We are investigating selected app restrictions using native parental-control permissions, with safety safeguards and platform limitations.

Can I use ASK ONCE on an Apple Watch?

A dedicated watch experience is not built yet. Apple Watch-only use is not supported in the current beta.

Can other families sign up?

Anyone can view the website and fictional demo. Creating a family workspace is restricted to approved pilot participants.
